Spring Semester

So..I am in my second day of Spring semester and all I can say is WHOA!!! I am actually really happy to be back in school. The last semester I took nothing but online classes and this semester is jam-packed with face-to-face classes. Don't get me wrong...I will miss being able to do my homework and classwork whenever I wanted and not have to drive to school, but what I can say is that I missed the one-on-one interactions I had not only with my professors and my classmates. Plus I am only a few semesters away until GRADUATION!!!

I know that my happiness will soon fade because even though the start of the semester is always laid back, the middle and end of the semester is when I start going CRAZY!!

Well, I am off to get a bite to eat, these back to back three hour classes have me starving by the end of the day.

Tata for now :)

WHOA!!

Okay! I have been such a bad blogger. I created this thing last year because I wanted to chronicle my love of makeup and what not...but sadly I have failed to do so. And it already is 2011! Can you believe it? We are already almost 2 weeks into the new year. Lots has happened since I first began this blog. Many changes... What I like about a new year is that it brings about a sense of starting over, or a new beginning. I like to begin a new year with a fresh slate, you know, sort of plan out what I would like to accomplish by the end of the year. I have no resolutions just a simple "live life" motto that I want to go ahead and live by this year.

The one thing that I do know is what I want to update my blog as much as possible :)! Until next time.

So much has happened

Oh my goodness! It has been such a long time since I have last posted! So much has happened since the the last time I have posted. I have a new job! Summer has come and gone and now we are in Fall, but it doesn't feel like it because there is a huge heat wave affecting California right now.

Anyway, now I have promised myself to update my blog a lot more often. So, be prepared for a lot more posts from me!!

IMATS 2010

So it's been a little over a week since I last posted and sooo many things have happened since then. I started summer school last week and taking way more than a full load (13 units) and 7 is considered a full load during summer. Lakers WON! Like I always thought they would, I was bummed out though when I didn't get to go to the parade last Monday because that was my first day of school :(. Anywho, another huge thing happened over the past weekend and that was IMATS!!!
IMATS stands for the International Make-up Artist trade show and it is an event that is sponsered by Make-up Magazine. It is a yearly event that takes places around various spots in the United States as well as England, Canada and Australia. This weekend it took place in Southern California in the city of Pasadena. I have never been to the convention before and I have always wanted to go considering the fact that not only do I love make-up but I wanted a chance to hang out with on of my besties. So off to the show we went. We left Sunday morning like around 8 and got there like around 10 because we got lost like 5,394 times. Let me tell you, the google maps app on my phone was having us drive around crazy. Anyway when we finally made it we got to skip the HUGE line and pick up our tickets at will call.
As we entered the room my heart just fluttered. There were make-up brushes, airbrush systems, glitter, hair extensions....just about everything imaginable that had to do with the make-up industry. We went a few rounds around the floor and I picked up a few brushes, some items from the NYX booth and an airbrush compressor along with some airbrush foundation.
My main reason for going to the show was to find an airbrush compressor that I could add to my kit. I researched for weeks on what compressor I wanted, but I couldn't decide. Finally I ended up purchasing the dinair airbrush compressor and with it came five foundation shades of my selected colors which fell into the "fair" category. I also bought some additional airbrush foundations from graftobian because they were having an awesome sale on their airbrush make-up and they're new HD foundations which coordinate with each other. I decided it was a smart purchase because both Graftobian and Dinair have a water-base for their airbrush make-up foundations and I know that if I decide to use the Graftobian airbrush make-up in my Dinair compressor that it wouldn't damage it.
After buying my goodies, we left to get a bite to eat at Rubio's and we were going to go home but we decided to do one more round at the show. So back we went and when we got there they were doing the judging on the student competitions. It was amazing to see all of the effort that goes into creating special effect makeup. After the show, we walked around a little more and then we went back home.
Yesterday was an amazing day. I had the chance to touch, feel and smell many hot new products and it also gave me some ideas as to what I should add to my make-up kit. Slowly, I am building it up and hopefully soon I can test all these great products out on more than just my friends and family. Well that's all for now, I have a lot I need to get done today...homework, catching up on reading and all this needs to be done before I go to work. Smooches!

Here's a few pics from yesteday :)! Enjoy!

Wine Wednesday

So, I get text message from one of my really good friends to see whether or not I could meet up with her for a girl's night in. Since I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks I definitely jumped at the chance to hang out. So, I met up with her and some others at the house and the whole night we were laughing, reminiscing about past experiences and even played naughty truth or dare. All the while eating pizza, carne asada fries and sipping on wine and some bubbly. It was a great night. I meant to take pictures, but through all of the fun I completely forgot to even take any.
Nights like last night makes me grateful for the few close friends I do have. I have many acquaintances, but very few close friends. I like to keep it that way because not only do I know that I can trust those few select people but I enjoy spending time with them and have even grown to love them not like friends but like family. It is important to have that close circle of friends on whom you can count on.
On to today, I love the fact that I got to sleep in until 1 o'clock. I rushed to school to handle some business and now I'm at home relaxing a bit before I head out to work. I am a little bummed because as you all know tonight is the big game against the Lakers and Celtics. I'm a Lakers fan of course, I gotta represent. Hopefully Lakers whoop some ass!! Even though I will be at work I will for sure be checking the score and hopefully afterward celebrate the Lakers winning with a celebratory drink :). Until next time...

I'm jumping on the blog train

So, I finally did it. After months of contemplating about whether or not to start a blog I decided why not? The internet is a place where people can come and share their ideas and opinions on just about anything so why shouldn't I? Anywho, a little about myself my name is Annissa pronounced uh-knee-suh or to make things a little bit easier just Nisa. I'm in my 4th year of college and starting on my 5th year this Fall. My ultimate goal is to become an R.N. Its been a long tough journey but I'm more than halfway through and only that much closer :). Even though being a student does take up much of my time I absolutely love anything and everything make-up. I have always been fascinated with the make-up industry and even contemplated about becoming a make-up artist, but I decided to go the medical route instead. With that being said, I still am an absolute make-up junkie and am thinking about even starting up a side business as a freelance make-up artist while I'm going to school. What college student doesn't need to pick up a little extra cash whenever he or she can right? I am barely starting out on this make-up venture but I think I am ready for it. Well, hopefully this first blog has been interesting to you all and has given you a bit of info about me and my interests. Bye for now.
